Support in every turn

Continental, the world-famous automotive industry name, employs more than 240,000 people in 59 countries. In connection with this company, everybody will immediately imagine their tires. Today, this German company is one of the leading manufacturers in the industry and we can find Continental brand on tires for almost everything with wheels. But tires are not the only thing this company deals with. Furthermore, it is, for example, the development and production of electrical components, safety systems, products to support vehicle dynamics, etc. Among other things, they follow the current trend and also deal with hybrid drives, electric vehicles, and autonomous control.

Tires are the most important part of both a passenger and a racing vehicle. They allow maneuverability and have a major impact on the overall performance of the car. Therefore, we are pleased to be able to rely on Continental’s support in this respect,  supplying our Dragons with “shoes” since 2014.

Some might argue that even with the best tires, you may not be the fastest if you do not know how to use it correctly or what it requires to gain maximum performance. That is why we use the possibility of test drives on the track of the production plant in Otrokovice. Here, thanks to the large space, we can search for optimal chassis settings and train our drivers’ skills.

The Formula Student competition is not just about the best fast lap times. Moreover is important the presentation of static disciplines, where the knowledge of the team and the ability to defend their proposals and projects are evaluated. Even in these disciplines, Continental is very helpful in organizing workshops to improve our presentation skills. It is worth mentioning that last year we were very successful in static disciplines and design presentation, we have even got to the finals at all races. Participation in this workshop certainly had its influence and thank you very much for that opportunity.

It would not have been possible without good guidance. Designing, building and testing a car in just one year is not just that. Therefore, more  importantly there are people in leadership positions who can motivate the rest of the team and lead the project to the successful goal. In this we can once again rely again on the experience of Continental workers in the “leadership workshop”, where we learn the right techniques.

Last but not least, the company helps us with the production of our own parts. Such as the printing of inconel crosses on the cardan joints of the steering system.
