Double success at home race!

30.8. 2021

After the successful start of the season in Assen, the Netherlands, we had another race – directly on the Czech circuit in Most. The preparation itself was accompanied by great enthusiasm, as it was an important race for both our team and our country. Where else but at home, we should show the great performance hidden in both of our Dragon monoposts.
The race was also the first big test for our whole team, as we intended to put not only one monopost on the starting field, but exactly two, which no other Czech team has managed to do in history so far. So we arrived at the Most Autodrome with the already known Dragon X monopost, but also for the first time in history with the Dragon e1 electric monopost.

The first day of the race was little bit nervous as there was a slight tension between the members. Scrutineering of cars are often very demanding. We have already successfully completed one mechanical inspection with the Dragon X monopost in this season and therefore knew what to expect, but the Dragon e1 monopost presented new challenges that we faced for the first time in history. Thanks to good preparation, we successfully passed both scruti without significant problems. This was followed by a tilt test, a brake test, a noise test for the Dragon X. The Dragon e1 had to pass similar tests, with a difference in the noise test, where it checked the noise of safety elements, and a test to check the watertightness of all electrical equipment in the car. Successfully managed inspections opened the door to the test track, where we tuned the ideal settings, which ensured the maximum possible performance of both monoposts for acceleration and skidpad the next day.

The next day, the morning trip to the garages took place in a completely different atmosphere. The first dynamic disciplines were here. The year-round efforts and expectations of the whole team to see both monoposts race on the track were to be fulfilled. And it was here! Both cars drove off, Dragon X on the skidpad and Dragon e1 on acceleration. We watched them with bated breath and hoped for the best possible results. Soon the monoposts took turns in the disciplines, but that did not prevent us from keeping our fingers crossed for the drivers.
In the afternoon, the autocross discipline came next. The pilots aim to get the most out of their monopost and ride the fastest possible lap on the track. We did not manage to get the fastest times, but the results were really great and suggested what we can expect in the royal discipline.

The culmination of the entire race is traditionally the Endurance discipline, which is run on the last day of the race. It is the most demanding part of the whole race. Monoposts have to drive 22 km and show what is really hidden in them. What we managed that day can only be described as a phenomenal success, when both our monoposts successfully completed all 22 km. This achievement meant that we have the 13th completed endurance in a row with our combustion monoposts and the very first for electric vehicle – Dragon e1.

We therefore take many podium places from the Formula Student Czech Republic races, namely:
3rd in CV Cost and Manufacturing
3rd in EV Endurance
2nd in EV OVERALL CLASSIFICATION
2nd in CV OVERALL CLASSIFICATION
1st in CV Engineering Design
1st in EV Business Plan Presentation
1st in CV Efficiency
1st in EV Efficiency
